Abstract

The dried roots and rhizomes of Polygonum cuspidatum (Reynoutria japonica) are used as medicinal herbs. This review summarises the extraction, purification, structure and biological activities of its polysaccharides, including antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, immunomodulatory and antitumour effects.
