Abstract

Ethanolic and aqueous Betula pendula leaf extracts, used traditionally for diabetes in southeastern Europe, inhibited the carbohydrate-hydrolysing enzyme alpha-glucosidase and restored glutathione under glucose-induced oxidative stress, supporting an antidiabetic and antioxidant action.
