Laurus nobilis ethanolic extract attenuates hyperglycemia and hyperinsulinemia-induced insulin resistance in HepG2 cell line through the reduction of oxidative stress and improvement of mitochondrial biogenesis
Abstract
Laurus nobilis ethanolic extract improved insulin sensitivity and protected HepG2 liver cells from apoptosis, mitochondrial dysfunction and oxidative stress under hyperglycaemic/hyperinsulinaemic conditions, suggesting an antioxidant hepatoprotective role relevant to insulin resistance and diabetes.
