Abstract

The essential oil of Elettaria cardamomum inhibited acetylcholinesterase and butyrylcholinesterase in vitro; bio-guided fractionation identified the metabolites responsible, suggesting a potential neuroprotective/cholinergic role for the cardamom essential oil.
