Gastroprotective effect of cardamom, Elettaria cardamomum Maton. fruits in rats

Abstract
In rats, a methanolic extract, essential oil and fractions of Elettaria cardamomum fruits inhibited aspirin- and ethanol-induced gastric lesions and showed anti-ulcer and gastroprotective activity, supporting the Unani use of cardamom for gastrointestinal disorders.
