Effect of valerian, valerian/hops extracts, and valerenic acid on glucuronidation in vitro
Preclinical
Abstract
Valerian (Valeriana officinalis) and valerian/hops extracts and the constituent valerenic acid inhibited UDP-glucuronosyltransferase activity in vitro, suggesting that valerian-containing products may interfere with the glucuronidation of drugs - a relevant herb-drug-interaction consideration.
