View source Saponins, which have antibacterial, anti-inflammatory and antifungal properties, were studied as a saponin-rich extract of Saponaria officinalis on Candida spheroplasts. The extract increased membrane permeability and lowered surface potential, proving the antifungal potential of soapwort saponins and their ability to permeabilise cells.
