Antithrombotic Potential of Tormentil Extract in Animal Models
Preclinical
Abstract
Polyphenol-rich tormentil (Potentilla erecta) extract, with anti-inflammatory and antioxidant activities, was evaluated in a rat model of arterial thrombosis. The extract decreased thrombus weight, prolonged occlusion and bleeding time, reduced thromboxane production and inhibited platelet activation similarly to aspirin, demonstrating antithrombotic potential.
