Abstract
Aucubin, an iridoid glycoside prevalent in Plantago and other medicinal herbs, possesses antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, anti-fibrotic, hepatoprotective, neuroprotective and osteoprotective properties with good tolerance. This review summarises the source, biological activity, pharmacokinetics and toxicology of aucubin, a key bioactive constituent of plantain.
