Bioactive Compounds, Antioxidant Activity, and Biological Effects of European Cranberry (Vaccinium oxycoccos)
Abstract
European cranberry (Vaccinium oxycoccos) fruit is a valuable source of antioxidants, especially anthocyanins, proanthocyanidins and quercetin. This review summarises its bioactive compounds and biological effects, including urinary-tract protection (proanthocyanidins), antibacterial and antifungal properties, and cardioprotective and anticancer activities.
