Chemical Composition of Essential Oils from Nepeta cataria L. Cultivated in Bulgaria and Their Antimicrobial and Antioxidant Activity
Abstract
Essential oils of Nepeta cataria cultivated in Bulgaria were characterised (main components beta-citronellol, geraniol, neral, nerol) and tested for antimicrobial and antioxidant activity. The oils showed antibacterial activity and notable antioxidant capacity (DPPH, ABTS, FRAP, CUPRAC), supporting the antimicrobial use of catnip.
