Hepatoprotective effect of essential oils of Nepeta cataria L. on acetaminophen-induced liver dysfunction
Preclinical
Abstract
Essential oils from Nepeta cataria significantly attenuated acetaminophen-induced liver damage in mice by accelerating harmless acetaminophen metabolism (increasing UGT and SULT expression, inhibiting CYP2E1) and activating Nrf-2, demonstrating a hepatoprotective effect of catnip essential oil.
