Abstract
Tussilago farfara (coltsfoot) is a widely used medicinal plant traditionally used for respiratory, digestive and circulatory ailments. Its alkaloids, flavonoids and terpenoids contribute to neuroprotective, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and anticancer activities. This review covers extraction methods, phytochemistry, nanoparticle synthesis, ethnobotany, pharmacology and toxicology (pyrrolizidine-alkaloid safety considerations).
