A novel antifungal peptide from leaves of the weed Stellaria media L.

Abstract
A novel antimicrobial peptide, SmAMP3, was isolated from leaves of common chickweed (Stellaria media) and sequenced. The peptide showed strong antifungal activity against phytopathogenic fungi, illustrating the plant's defence chemistry and contributing to its known antimicrobial properties.
