Microbiological and Clinical Effects of a Proanthocyanidin-enriched Extract from Rumex acetosa in Periodontally Healthy Carriers of Porphyromonas gingivalis: a Randomized Controlled Pilot Study
Abstract
A proanthocyanidin-enriched extract from Rumex acetosa inhibits adhesion of Porphyromonas gingivalis to host cells. This randomised placebo-controlled pilot trial of a mouth rinse containing the extract in healthy carriers of P. gingivalis analysed microbiological and clinical effects, supporting an antimicrobial role of sorrel against periodontal pathogens.
