Hepatoprotection of Leonurus cardiaca L., Leonurus japonicus Houtt. and Leonurus sibiricus L.
Abstract
The phenolic composition of hydroethanolic extracts of Leonurus cardiaca, Leonurus japonicus and Leonurus sibiricus was determined and their hepatoprotective effects investigated in vitro. The extracts were rich in phenylethanoids and flavonoids and protected liver cells against oxidative damage, demonstrating antioxidant and hepatoprotective activity.
