Abstract

A comprehensive review of botanical dietary supplements for women's health. Among plant extracts with estrogenic activity proposed for menopausal symptom relief is Humulus lupulus (hops), alongside soy, red clover, kudzu and others; some have protective effects against osteoporosis and potential breast-cancer-preventive effects, while the review stresses that botanicals have not been rigorously tested for toxicity or drug interactions.
