Abstract

Isorhamnetin is one of the most important active flavonoid ingredients in the fruits of Hippophae rhamnoides (sea buckthorn). This review summarises its pharmacological effects — cardiovascular and cerebrovascular protection, anti-tumor, anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidation, organ protection and prevention of obesity — and the underlying signaling mechanisms (PI3K/AKT, NF-kB, MAPK), underlining the medicinal value of this sea buckthorn constituent.
