Meta-analysis / review

Abstract

An updated systematic review of ivy leaf (Hedera helix) extract for acute upper respiratory tract infections and bronchitis, including six RCTs, one controlled clinical trial and four observational studies. All studies concluded ivy leaf extract is an effective and safe option for cough due to URTIs and bronchitis; three RCTs reported more rapid reduction in cough severity/frequency, though effects were minimal and of uncertain clinical importance, with no serious adverse effects reported.
