Epilobium spp: Pharmacology and Phytochemistry
Traditional / reference
Abstract
Epilobium species and their extracts are popular in folk medicine for a wide range of applications. This review analyses the pharmacological properties of Epilobium spp (anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, antitumor, antimicrobial, analgesic and antiandrogenic) and whether they justify the traditional use of willowherb, particularly for prostate conditions, noting that randomized controlled trials are still needed.
