Phytochemical Constituents from the Seeds of Capsella bursa-pastoris and Their Antioxidant Activities
Abstract
Investigation of the seeds of Capsella bursa-pastoris yielded a new cyclobutane organic acid and fourteen known compounds (organosulfur compounds, quinonoids, flavonoids, sterols). Several compounds showed strong DPPH radical-scavenging and ferric-reducing antioxidant power close to or higher than trolox, and protected HT-22 neuronal cells from hydrogen-peroxide-induced oxidative damage.
