Gardening Know How

Traditional / reference

Abstract

Horticultural guide: notes that aloe and agave look similar and are easily confused if you have not grown both, and that the decisive difference is internal - aloe leaves are gel-like inside while agave is fibrous; it recounts a dangerous poisoning from ingesting agave in mistake for aloe and advises not to consume the plant unless positive it is an aloe. Anchors the aloe-versus-agave confusion and the clear-gel-versus-fibrous test.
