Abstract

Botanical flora account of fool's parsley (Aethusa cynapium): distinguished by the downwardly directed, strongly reflexed bracteoles beneath the smaller umbels of white flowers, and by smooth, thin, dark green, finely dissected leaves that give off an acrid, unpleasant, mouse-like odour when bruised. Anchors the drooping bracteole beard and the acrid smell that separate fool's parsley from fennel.
