Abstract

This review describes how the bioactive compounds of Allium sativum (allicin, S-allyl-cysteine, diallyl disulfide) exert anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and hypoglycemic effects and improve glucose metabolism in type 2 diabetes mellitus.
