Abstract
A freeze-dried extract of Persicaria bistorta (Bistorta officinalis) protected against acetic-acid-induced colitis in rats via nitric oxide and opioid mechanisms, supporting the anti-inflammatory and astringent gastrointestinal use of bistort.
