Formulation of microspheres containing Crataegus monogyna Jacq. extract with free radical scavenging activity
Preclinical
Abstract
Spray-dried microspheres of Crataegus monogyna flowering-top extract (highest free-radical-scavenging activity, EC50 3.72 microg/ml) retained their antioxidant activity after simulated gastrointestinal transit, offering an oral delivery system for hawthorn's antioxidant flavonoids.
