Abstract

In an experimental rat model of necrotizing enterocolitis, fennel (Foeniculum vulgare) seed extract reduced bowel damage, apoptosis, oxidative stress and the pro-inflammatory cytokines TNF-alpha and IL-6, demonstrating anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and cytoprotective gastrointestinal effects.
