The effect of Cynara scolymus (artichoke) on maternal reproductive outcomes and fetal development in rats

Abstract
In Wistar rats, dry extract of Cynara scolymus leaves administered during gestation reduced fetal weight and length and litter size at higher doses (without malformations), indicating that artichoke consumption during pregnancy can negatively affect fetuses - an important safety consideration.
