Abstract
This review describes how dopaminergic compounds in Vitex agnus-castus (notably diterpene clerodadienols) bind D2 receptors and suppress prolactin release, explaining the herb's clinically demonstrated benefit on premenstrual mastodynia and other premenstrual-syndrome symptoms.
