Abstract

Berberine and jatrorrhizine from the bark of Mahonia aquifolium showed concentration-dependent antimutagenic activity against a direct-acting chemical mutagen, indicating an antimutagenic/anticarcinogenic potential of Oregon grape protoberberine alkaloids.
