Abstract

GC and GC/MS analysis of the essential oils from fresh shoots and flowers of Saponaria officinalis identified 96 components, with phytol, tricosane-6,8-dione, patchouli alcohol and tricosane as the major constituents, characterising the volatile chemistry of soapwort.
