Chemical Investigation and Antinociceptive Activity Evaluation of Marrubium vulgare L. Aqueous Extract
Abstract
The aqueous extract of Marrubium vulgare leaves, traditionally used for respiratory infections, inflammation and pain, was investigated for chemical composition, acute toxicity and antinociceptive effects. The extract (rich in marrubiin) showed significant antioxidant and robust antinociceptive (analgesic) activity in writhing, hot-plate and formalin tests, supporting its antispasmodic/pain-relieving use.
