Preclinical

Abstract

Catnip (Nepeta cataria) essential oil was assayed in vitro against L3 larvae of Anisakis type 1, a fishborne zoonotic nematode. The oil caused complete inactivation of the parasites within 6-12 hours, showing significant antiparasitic (nematicidal) activity and suggesting potential as a larvicidal agent.
