Abstract
Tussilago farfara (coltsfoot, Kuan Dong Hua) has long been used to treat respiratory disorders and consumed as a vegetable. This review summarises its ethnobotanical value, phytochemistry (sesquiterpenoids, triterpenoids, flavonoids, pyrrolizidine alkaloids), pharmacology (anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, antitussive, neuroprotective), toxicity and quality control.
