Abstract

Labrador tea is made from the dried leaves of Rhododendron tomentosum and related species, rich in essential oil and ascorbic acid, with tonic, digestion-improving and relaxing activity. The review covers origin, processing and safety, noting that the beverage should not be drunk more than once daily because of ledol and grayanotoxin toxicity.
