Essential Oil from Eucalyptus globulus (Labill.) Activates Complement Receptor-Mediated Phagocytosis and Stimulates Podosome Formation in Human Monocyte-Derived Macrophages
Abstract
Essential oil from Eucalyptus globulus, and its major component eucalyptol, stimulated the phagocytic activity of human monocyte-derived macrophages by activating complement-receptor-mediated phagocytosis and stimulating podosome formation, confirming the essential oil as a potent activator of innate cell-mediated immunity in addition to its known antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties.
