Phytotherapy for acute respiratory tract infections in children: a systematically conducted, comprehensive review
Abstract
A systematically conducted review (PRISMA) of 45 reports on phytopharmaceuticals for paediatric acute respiratory tract infections, including various purple coneflower (Echinacea purpurea) preparations alongside ivy leaf, African geranium and others. The review presents the available efficacy and tolerability evidence for these herbal medicines as alternatives to reduce inappropriate antibiotic use in children.
