Coriandrum sativum and Its Utility in Psychiatric Disorders
Abstract
Coriandrum sativum offers a rich source of metabolites, mainly terpenes and flavonoids, with in vitro and in vivo activity on central-nervous-system disorder models. Some compounds chemically interact with GABA, 5-HT and NMDA receptors, key to the pathophysiology of psychiatric and neurological diseases, supporting coriander as a potential anxiolytic, antidepressant, antiepileptic and sleep enhancer.
