Phenolic Compounds and Bioactive Properties of Ruscus aculeatus L. (Asparagaceae): The Pharmacological Potential of an Underexploited Subshrub
Abstract
Aqueous and hydroethanolic extracts of the aerial parts and roots/rhizomes of Ruscus aculeatus L. were characterised for phenolic compounds (apigenin and quercetin glycosides) and showed antioxidant and antibacterial activities without cytotoxicity, supporting the empirical medicinal uses of the species.
